Plein Air Festival
Painting the Town, a plein air art painting event, was a significant new element in the annual Art in the Adobes Festival. Plein air painting by local artists will be held during the week-end festival on Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15. In keeping with this years' Festival theme Artists and Architecture, local artists are called upon to participate in a one day painting venture throughout historic downtown Monterey. On Saturday artists will choose their favorite site to paint… historic adobes, relics, gardens, street scenes, landscapes or seascapes.
On Sunday these same artists will then choose to display and sell their art work on the festival's Polk Street Paseo, which will be transformed into a pedestrian promenade for the weekend surrounded by historic buildings, gardens, music and fun.
On Sunday afternoon there will be a presentation when Judges’ awards and cash prizes for the winning art work will be announced.
Artist applications will be available on the website on May 1st, 2013. For more information contact: Susan Klusmire by phone: 831-383-0666 or email: klusmires@att.net
