Exclusive Afternoon Reception & Talks at Historic La Mirada

New this year to Art in the Adobes Festival is an exclusive afternoon (Friday, September 14, 3:00-6:30pm) at Monterey Museum of Art-La Mirada (former Casa Castro-Work) for All-Access ticket holders only.

Step back in time and experience the handsome home built in the 1920s which incorporates the remains of an early nineteenth-century adobe, and then wander the galleries that were built in the 1990s by the Monterey Museum of Art. And don't forget to stroll through the glorious gardens which are part of a continuing horticultural tradition dating back half a century and perhaps beyond to the Mexican days before the American occupation in 1846.

James Alkons of Northern California Art Conservators will discuss the conservation process he used with the restoration of the long lost WPA painting Shrimp Fisherman by M. Evelyn McCormick. Talks & tours will be given by design specialist Diane Bower and historian Julianne Burton-Carvajal. Wine & hors d'oeuvres will be provided. Shrimp Fisherman will be included in the Magnificent Murals: Lifeways of the Monterey Region exhibition in the Stevenson House during the Festival week-end.

Purchase your tickets now to attend 4-day Festival activities!
