Opening Reception & Preview

"Orientations" in the historic Marsh Building at the entrance to historic Monterey
The Opening Night reception will be followed by a special concert by I Cantori at Monterey Musem of Art - La Mirada from 7:00 to 8:30. Art in the Adobes ticket holders will receive a discount to attend the concert.
Discovery Day (student tours only)

Casa Gutierrez
The Allliance of Monterey Area Preservationists (AMAP) sponsors "Discovery Day" for students from regional schools in grades 8-12. After a program of activities at the Monterey Museum of Art, developed by Director of Education Ellen Maupin and members of the Docent Council, student groups visit the Youth Arts Collective and Casa Gutierrez to view the work of "California's Monet", M. Evelyn McCormick and her paintings of Monterey Landmark Buildings and other rarely seen masterpieces with State Parks curators on hand. Students will receive packets of information pertaining to the history and preservation of Monterey's historic adobes and a discount ticket voucher to return with their families for the weekend event.

Polk Street Paseo - Sunday, September 15
On Sunday Polk Street will be transformed into a pedestrians-only venue with social areas, art demonstrations and sales, music, living history & more.

"Painting the Town" plein air painters display and sell paintings that were created in historic Monterey on Saturday. The festival will include painting demonstrations, meeting the artists and an awards ceremony.

Saturday - Youth Arts Collective
This community-based non-profit provides a creative sanctuary for Monterey County youth ages 14-22 after school and during the summer, offering professional equipment for drawing, painting, airbrushing, photography, claymation, computer arts, video, sculpture and fashion.|
Tours of the Youth Arts Collective, 472 Calle Prinicpal, will be available from 11:00am - 5:00pm on Saturday, Sept. 14.
